A Family Session Rooted in Memories

Some photos become even more meaningful with time.

When Steph got in touch, she told me that her family would soon be moving to America after living in North Yorkshire. Before they left, she wanted one last family photography session in the landscape that had become such a huge part of their lives. She wanted photographs that would forever remind them of the place where their boys had explored, laughed and grown up.

As a family photographer covering Northumberland and North Yorkshire, these are the stories I love telling. They're never just about smiling at the camera—they're about preserving a chapter of life exactly as it felt.

Like many young children, their two little boys arrived full of curiosity, excitement and endless energy.

And honestly? That's exactly how I want it.

I never expect children to stand still or force awkward smiles. My sessions are built around movement, play and genuine connection. We explored together, ran through the landscape, played games and simply let the boys be themselves.

Those fleeting moments—the laughter, muddy boots, tiny hands reaching for Mum and Dad, windswept hair and spontaneous cuddles—are the memories that deserve to be remembered.

The best family photographs often happen in between the moments you think you're supposed to be looking at the camera.

Why I Love Outdoor Family Photography

There's something incredibly special about photographing families outdoors.

Nature has a way of slowing us down. Children have the freedom to run, climb, collect sticks, throw stones into rivers and discover the world around them, while parents can simply enjoy being present with them.

The result is a gallery filled with authentic emotion rather than posed perfection.

My Photography Style

My approach is documentary-inspired and storytelling-led.

I gently guide when needed, but I never want your session to feel staged. Instead, I look for genuine interactions, natural light and all of those little moments that often go unnoticed.

When it comes to editing, I love creating warm, timeless images with soft tones, subtle grain and a nostalgic feel. My goal is for your photographs to feel less like a photoshoot and more like memories you can step back into years from now.
